COPE in Parliament says it is concerned about the resignation of journalists in numbers at the SABC.
The party says this is a reflection of the public broadcasters’ financial problems.
COPE national spokesperson Dennies Bloem says the departure of the SABC Parliamentary Editor Vuyani Green among others is just one demonstration of the problem.
“COPE is very much disturbed with what is happening at the public broadcaster. It seems to us there is a silent revolt brewing at the SABC. Experienced journalists with years at the SABC are resigning at the SABC. The resignation of top sports journalists and Parliamentary Political Desk Editor Vuyani Green is shocking. We are informed by the concern journalists that the moral is very low. Working conditions have become unbearable.”
